META 8

META 8

SDG indicators:

  • 15.5.1 Red List Index
  • 15.1.2 Proportion of important sites for terrestrial and freshwater biodiversity that are covered by protected areas, by ecosystem type (ER_PTD_TERR: Average proportion of Terrestrial Key Biodiversity Areas (KBAs) covered by protected areas)

CBD indicators:

  • A.3 Red List Index
  • 3.1 Coverage of protected areas and other effective area-based conservation measures
  • Protected area coverage of Key Biodiversity Areas (Component indicator under target 3)
  • Proportion of terrestrial, freshwater and marine ecological regions that are conserved by protected areas or other effective area-based conservation measures (Complementary indicator under target 3 and 5)

SDG Target 13.2

SDG Target 14.3

Correlación con SAMARKAND STRATEGIC PLAN FOR MIGRATORY SPECIES 2024-2032

Target 3.4. By 2032, the impact of climate change on migratory species and their habitats is reduced through mitigation and adaptation, including through nature-based solutions and/or ecosystem-based approaches and disaster risk reduction actions, while minimizing negative and fostering positive impacts on biodiversity.

Explanation: Actions to eliminate or mitigate the negative impacts of climate change on migratory species are identified. This also includes the research and promotion of conservation and management tools applied to migratory species and the ecosystem services they provide, such as the enhancement of mitigation and adaptation against climate change.

Ramsar Target 12

Restoration is in progress in degraded wetlands, with priority to wetlands that are relevant for biodiversity conservation, disaster risk reduction, livelihoods and/or climate change mitigation and adaptation.

Baseline
  • 68% of Parties have identified priority sites for restoration. (National Reports to COP12).
  • 70% of Parties have implemented restoration or rehabilitation programmes. (National Reports to COP12).
Indicator
  • % of Parties that have established restoration plans [or activities] for sites. (Data source: National Reports).
  • % of Parties that have implemented effective restoration or rehabilitation projects. (Data source: National Reports).

Possible further indicators that may be developed

  • {Outcome-based indicators(s) related to (extent of) wetland restoration possibly including remote sensing as appropriate}.
